Finberg top Doctor
Dr. Stephen N. Finberg, FCCP

A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dr. Finberg completed an Internal Medicine residency followed by a Fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine, Allergy and Immunology at UCLA / Wadsworth VA Medical Center. After his fellowship training, Dr. Finberg moved to the Phoenix / Scottsdale area in 1981, and founded Desert Center for Allergy and Chest Diseases.

Dr. Finberg is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine and Allergy and Immunology, with a special interest in Sleep Medicine. In 1985, his research substantiated the relationship between sleep apnea and hypertension and was published in the American Journal of Cardiology. He served as Co-Director of the Paradise Valley Sleep Center. Dr. Finberg is a member of the American Thoracic Society and a Fellow in the American College of Chest Physicians. He has served as Chief of Staff and director of respiratory medicine at Abrazo Scottsdale Campus (Paradise Valley Hospital), and is a Phoenix Magazine Top Doc recipient.

Dr. Finberg is married with two grown children, including his daughter Leah who works as a Physician's Assistant at Desert Center for Allergy and Chest Diseases. In his free time, he enjoys sporting events and spending time with family. As an Eagle Scout, he was active both locally and nationally in scouting. Dr. Finberg is also a model train enthusiast.

Nicewicz
Dr. John T. Nicewicz

Dr. Nicewicz completed his undergraduate education at Rutgers University and received his medical degree from the University of Bologna Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in Italy. He performed his residency in Internal Medicine at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, New Jersey, and completed a fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine at Deborah Heart and Lung Center in Browns Mills, New Jersey. He continued on as a staff physician at Deborah where he also served as the medical director of Pulmonary Ambulatory Care Services.

Dr. Nicewicz joined Desert Center for Allergy and Chest Diseases in 2008, after relocating from New Jersey. His areas of practice include Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care Medicine, with a special interest in Sleep Disorders and occupational lung disease. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Disease and a member of the American Thoracic Society. Dr. Nicewicz is the current Chief of Medicine at Abrazo Scottsdale Campus (Paradise Valley Hospital). When he is not working, Dr. Nicewicz enjoys fishing, photography and reading.

Dr Menashe
Dr. Phillip I. Menashe, FCCP

Dr. Menashe joins the staff at Desert Center for Allergy and Chest Diseases from Yakima, Washington where he practiced Pulmonary and Critical Medicine for more than thirty years. He received his undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Washington, completed his medical residency at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, and fellowships in Critical Care Medicine and Pulmonary Medicine at Norwalk Hospital, Yale University. Dr. Menashe enjoys caring for patients with respiratory problems and tailoring care to the unique needs of each patient and their family. He has expertise in all aspects of pulmonary disease and a special interest in lung cancer screening, advanced diagnostic bronchoscopy, and collaboration with other experts in the field of lung cancer treatment.

Dr. Menashe and his wife Angela enjoys outdoors, traveling and working with the local Humane Society and rescue shelters. In addition, Dr. Menashe is a volunteer with Good Samaritan Medical and Dental Ministry in Riverside California and makes frequent trips to Vietnam, in recent years helping Vietnamese physician colleagues care for critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit at the provincial hospital in Cao Bang. In January, Dr. Menashe was named the 2019 Outstanding Clinician by the Washington Thoracic Society.

Dr Patel
Dr. Sanjay 'Jay' B. Patel

Dr. Patel is originally from Kentucky and completed his undergraduate education at University of Kentucky, later receiving his medical degree at University of Pikeville-KYCOM. He then completed an internal medicine residency at University of Louisville and was thereafter selected to complete a chief resident year. He completed his Allergy/Immunology fellowship at the University of Arizona in Tucson. Dr. Patel enjoys caring for children and adults within all realms of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. He has gained expertise in severe asthma management, food allergy testing and treatment, and allergy immunotherapy. One principle he engages in is empowering patients by educating them about their disease process. Dr. Patel believes that each patient is different and the use of phenotyping and tailoring treatment plans for each individual is crucial in optimizing care.

Dr. Patel is a world traveler and foodie, influenced by his Indian-Italian roots. He is an avid sports fans, particularly basketball and soccer, and enjoys attending live sporting events and hiking. In addition, Dr. Patel and his wife enjoy spending time with family.

Dr Dana
Dr. Dana H. Reihman, FCCP

Dr. Dana Reihman was born in Amana, Iowa. He completed medical school residency, and fellowship training at the Indiana University Medical Center. Dr. Reihman is Board Certified in Pulmonary medicine, Sleep medicine, and critical care medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He practiced in Richmond, Indiana, before joining the Desert Center for Allergy and Chest Diseases. He is a member of the American Thoracic Society, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and he is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians.

Dr. Reihman hopes to educate and partner with his patients concerning the diagnosis and management of their medical issues, and he brings a wealth of training and experience in Pulmonary and Sleep medicine to patient care. Dr. Reihman was the Director of three Sleep Centers.

His wife is a gastroenterologist, and one of his three daughters is a pulmonary and critical care physician in Denver. Dr. Reihman enjoys marathon running, cycling, pickle ball, skiing, and traveling with his family.

Finnberg
Leah H. Finberg, MMS, PA-C

Leah is a board-certified Physician Assistant. She attended the University of Arizona for her undergraduate studies and completed her Physician Assistant program and masters of medical science at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona. Leah has specialized training in Allergy and Immunology, Pulmonary Medicine and Sleep Medicine from Wadsworth VA Medical Center at UCLA and National Jewish Medical Center in Denver, Colorado. Leah has lived in the Phoenix / Scottsdale area most of her life and joined Desert Center for Allergy and Chest Diseases in 2006. She is a member of the Arizona State Association of Physician Assistants (ASAPA) and an allied health member of the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (ACAAI) and Arizona Allergy and Asthma Society. She has lectured on primary immunodeficiency for the Arizona State Association for Physician Assistants. She also has a special interest in vocal cord dysfunction and sleep apnea. In her free time, Leah loves snow skiing in Utah and Colorado, traveling and spending time with friends, family and her dog, Aspen. She also enjoys barbecuing and is a sports enthusiast.

Theresa
Theresa E. Pinder, MS, PA-C

Theresa is a board-certified Physician Assistant. A native of Marion, Indiana, Theresa received a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology at Indiana University and a master’s degree in exercise physiology at Ball State University. She completed her PA program at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona, where she was a class salutatorian and served as an adjunct faculty member there.

Theresa has lived in the Phoenix / Scottsdale area since 1997. She has been working in Pulmonary Medicine since 2002 and joined DCACD in 2009. She is a member of the American College of Physician Assistants, and she has special interests in exercise prescription and VO2 max testing.

Theresa is married with two sons. She enjoys playing or watching a large variety of sports, photography, hiking, camping, reading, crafts, and being with family.

Adam Schwartz
Adam L. Schwartz, MMS, PA-C

Adam is a native Scottsdale/Phoenix resident. He attended the University of Arizona where he achieved his Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cellular Biology graduating with Honors. In 2004, Adam attended Midwestern University’s Physician Assistant Program in Downers Grove, IL where he earned a Masters of Medical Science and became a Board Certified Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and Board Licensed in the state of Arizona by the Arizona Regulatory Board of Physician Assistants.

Adam is a skilled, compassionate, and dedicated medical professional who has been providing healthcare to individuals and families throughout Phoenix, AZ since 2006. Adam brings an excellent foundation of Family and Internal Medicine to our Pulmonary, Sleep, and Allergy team. He enjoys treating patients and strongly believes in evidence based medicine, prevention, and patient education to improve the quality of care and understanding of disease conditions. Adam is a fellow member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Arizona State Association of Physician Assistants, and the American Academy of Physician Assistants in Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology.

Adam enjoys spending time outside the office with his lovely wife Lauren and children. They enjoy music, traveling, hiking and skiing, and spending as much time with family as possible.
